Enrique Diemecke is Music Director of the Long Beach Symphony in California. He remains Music Director of the National Symphony of Mexico, Principal Conductor of the Orchestre National de Montpelier and Principal Guest Conductor of the Orchestra Filarmonica di Teatro Colón. Previously he has been Resident Conductor of the St Paul Chamber, Artistic Director of the National Opera of Mexico and Music Director of the Belles Artes Theater of Mexico City.

In the US he has become a regular visitor to the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Minnesota Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony, Houston Symphony, National Symphony, San Diego Symphony and Rochester Philharmonic. In Europe he has appeared with such orchestras as the Royal Philharmonic, St Petersburg Philharmonic, Belgian National, USSR State Symphony, Bilbao Symphony and BBC Concert Orchestra. He has enjoyed a close relationship with the BBC Symphony since his début in 1995, returning every season since, including the UK premiere of Michael Daugherty’s ‘Metropolis’ Symphony in 1998 at the Royal Festival Hall.

Enrique Diemecke’s work with the National Symphony of Mexico has been recognised universally, and recent concerts have been in the presence of (former) President Clinton and King Juan Carlos of Spain. Together he and the orchestra have made many CDs for SONY, of music by Revueltas, Chavez and Villa-Lobos. He has also recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Simon Bolivar Symphony in Venezuela for DORIAN Records, with future CDs planned.

In recent seasons he has made his début with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and given a tour of Scandinavia and the Netherlands with the Netherlands Youth Orchestra. He also conducted for the first time with the French Radio Philharmonic, resulting in an invitation - and great success - with the Orchestre National de Paris and last year with the Orchestre National de Lyon. In 1999 he enjoyed great success conducting ‘Madame Butterfly’ at the Opera Narodowa in Warsaw and undertook a major US tour with the National Symphony of Mexico. He has been invited to return to Warsaw next season. He has previously conducted at Montpelier Opera and will make his début at Washington Opera in 2005.

In 2001 he appeared for the first time with the Malaysia Philharmonic and the Orchestre National de Lyon and in 2002 appeared again with the Liège Philharmonic; he made a very successful Prom début with the BBCSO in the same year. In 2003 he gave two hugely successful concerts with the Royal Philharmonic, with plans for further visits in 2005/06 and CD recordings. In 2004 he conducted the Orchestra Capitole de Toulouse and returned to France at the end of the year to conduct on tour the Orchestre Nationale d’Ile de France.

Other recent highlights of were a complete Dvorak Symphony Cycle at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, and a new production at the Pacific Opera in the US. He gave the French premiere in Paris of Villa-Lobos’ oratorio, ‘The Discovery of Brazil’, with the Orchestra National de France. Last season he returned to the BBCSO, Orchestre National de France, Bilbao Symphony and Orchestre Nationale d’Ile de France and appears with many of these again in 2007/08. Last year he conducted the world premiere if his Guitar Concetro - soloist Pepe Romero - with the Residentie Orkest at the Hague. He also conducted Massenet's 'Jongleur de Notre-Dame' at the Opera de Montpellier with Roberto Alagna in the title role. He appears regularly with the Orquesta Filarmonica di Buenos Aires and returned to the BBCSO.
