Khachatur Badalyan was born in 1982 and graduated with a red diploma from Don State Technical University (Department of International Economic Relations). He studied in Rostov State Conservatory of Music and between 2004 and 2006 was a soloist of the Rostov Region Philharmonic of Music.

In 2006 he was awarded a bursary from the Dunaevskiy Foundation and the following year saw him become a soloist of the Moscow Concert Organization. 2007 also saw him join the Novaya Opera Theatre in Moscow as a soloist and has since sung many of the leading tenor parts there, including Rodolfo and Alfredo under conductors such Eri Klas and Jan Latham-Koenig. This season he reprises Rodolfo and sings his first Don José. He also visits South Korea with the Novosibirsk Opera.

Since 2008 he has also been a regular guest soloist of the Bolshoi Opera Theatre, singing Rodolfo conducted by both Keri-Lynn Wilson and Teodor Currentzis. Khachatur Badalyan is a regular soloist with The Tenor Parade under the direction of Vladislav Piavko and also takes part in Irina Arkhipova projects.

He took several master-classes from Vladislav Piavko (Peoples artist of USSR), Valery Kostin (Russia, Poland, Switzerland), Viktor Zabiako (Russia, Italy), Lia Sarkisian (Armenia, Russia), Michael Paull (USA, Italy), and at the Riva del Garde Riccardo Zandonai Opera Festival - Veriano Luchetti and Mieta Sighele (Italy). In 2007 Khachatur Badalyan won the Special Prize at the Riccardo Zandonai Opera Competition in Italy.

He has sung with many Orchestras from Romanian Opera Theatres (conductor Anton Grishanin), Rostov Russian Folks Instruments Orchestra (conductor Krikor Khurdaian), Moscow Chamber Orchestra (conductor Vladislav Bulakhov), and the Orchestra “Luigi Cerubini” conducted by Marco Bohemi.

In 2007 he took part in the recording of a CD of ’Otello’ singing Roderigo, Otello being sung by Vladislav Piavko, Jago Eugeniy Polikanin and Desdemona Irina Arkadiava).

Khachatur Badalyan has toured frequently in Europe (Romania, Italy, Spain, etc.) and in 2007 sang in the Summer International Music Festival in Krasnodar and Sochi. In July he sang again in the Riccardo Zandonai Opera Festival.

His repertoires includes leading tenor parts in Italian and Russian operas: Cassio, Roderigo, Fenton ’Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor’, Lenski. He also has a wide repertoire of Italian, French, Russian, Spanish arias, songs and lieder.
